Who do you want to become, momma? As moms, we can spend so much time focusing on what we need to do, what we need to fix, and all the ways we think we could be doing better. But how often do we stop and intentionally think about the woman we're becoming? This weekend, I attended the Speak and Write to Make Millions conference with Lisa Nichols, and while I learned a lot about speaking and writing, my biggest takeaway came from a personal development exercise she had us do. We were asked three questions: Who am I becoming? What do I want? And what am I ready to stop hiding? Whew! Those questions made me think about the woman I want to become, the things I really want for my life, and the things I've been hiding or hiding from that could be keeping me from becoming her. In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm sharing my biggest takeaway from the conference and why I believe these are important questions for us to ask ourselves as women and moms. Because self-care isn't only about taking care of the woman you are today. It's also about making space for the woman you're becoming. If you're a Christian mom who has been so focused on motherhood and taking care of everyone else that you haven't stopped to think about what you want, who you're becoming, or what may be holding you back, I recorded this episode for you! Because you matter too. 💜 And if you're ready to start prioritizing yourself during your motherhood journey, schedule a 1 on 1 session with me here: ------------------- Grab your Self-care affirmations book: 👉 Get your Free Guide 5 Lies Mom Guilt Makes You Believe & What the Bible Says Instead here: Join me online: 💜 Connect with me on IG: 💜 Join our Facebook community: 💜 Follow me on TikTok: Email: info@ About your host: Chari Twitty-Hawkins inspires moms to embrace self-care, self-awareness, and self-compassion! Sometimes you don't realize how overwhelmed you are until you reach the point where one more question, one more reminder, or one more thing someone needs from you feels like too much. And that's exactly where I found myself this weekend. I had been reminding everybody of what they needed to do, making dinner, cleaning up, and trying to get things done around the house. Eventually, I realized I was overwhelmed, overstimulated, and at my capacity. In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm sharing what to do when you're already overwhelmed and struggling to handle things in a healthy way. I talk about recognizing what overwhelm looks like for you, why it's okay not to respond immediately when you need a moment to calm down, and the importance of communicating what you need instead of continuing to push through. Sometimes self-care means recognizing that you need some quiet time, taking a few minutes to breathe, and allowing yourself to calm down before you say or do something you may regret. If you're a Christian wife or momma who has been feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, easily irritated, or like you just need everybody to give you a minute, this episode is for you. 💜 And if you're ready to start prioritizing yourself during your motherhood journey, schedule a 1 on 1 session with me here: https://hirechari.as.me/schedule/b1a0e7a7/appointment/5982464/calendar/1998026 ----------------- Grab your Self-care affirmations book:https://payhip.com/b/ENwb 👉 Get your Free Guide 5 Lies Mom Guilt Makes You Believe & What the Bible Says Instead here: https://mailchi.mp/f51947652f1c/5-lies-mom-guilt-makes-you-believe Join me online: 💜 Connect with me on IG: https://www.instagram.com/cicinspireme/ 💜 Join our Facebook community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/RockYourFierceFaith 💜 Follow me on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cicinspireme Email: info@cicinspireme.com About your host: Chari Twitty-Hawkins inspires moms to embrace self-care, self-awareness, and self-compassion! Momma, sometimes you get to the point where you just don't want to make one more decision... What are we eating for dinner? What groceries do we need? What needs to be done around the house? What do the kids need? The decisions just keep coming, and after a while, you can become mentally exhausted from making decision after decision. That's decision fatigue, and as moms, we can experience it so often that we start to think it's just a normal part of motherhood. In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm sharing how to recognize mom decision fatigue and some simple ways to reduce the number of decisions you're making every day. I talk about creating routines and systems for decisions you make over and over, allowing your kids and husband to make more decisions, and giving yourself a brain break when you're mentally exhausted. Because you shouldn't be the person making every decision for everybody all the time. It's time to mother smarter, not harder. Have you ever been doing really well with something, had one day where you didn't quite meet the goal, and immediately felt like you messed up? I recently caught myself doing this. I had been making progress in an area of my life, and the moment I didn't do it exactly the way I planned, I started feeling bad about it. Instead of recognizing how far I'd come, I focused on the one thing I didn't do perfectly. And momma, we can put so much pressure on ourselves this way. In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm talking about what happens when the progress we're making turns into another expectation we feel like we have to meet perfectly. I share why it's important to recognize how far you've come, how to keep your goals from becoming another source of pressure, and why one setback doesn't erase the progress you've already made. This is your reminder to give yourself grace and don't give up. One moment, one day, or even one week doesn't mean you're back where you started. If you're a Christian mom who tends to be hard on yourself when you don't meet your own expectations, this episode is for you! When was the last time you celebrated yourself, momma? As moms, we're usually really good at celebrating everyone else. We celebrate our kids, our husbands, our family, and our friends. But when we accomplish something or make progress in our own lives, we can be so quick to dismiss it and move on to the next thing. I recently caught myself doing this after I accomplished something that may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but it was a big deal to me. It made me realize how important it is to recognize our progress and celebrate the small wins too. In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm sharing why learning to celebrate yourself is an important part of self-care for moms. I talk about why we tend to dismiss our own accomplishments, why you don't have to wait until you've reached a big goal to be proud of yourself, and why celebrating yourself will make you a better woman and mom! Because momma, you don't have to wait until you've arrived to celebrate the woman you're becoming. If you're a Christian mom who is always encouraging and celebrating everyone else but struggles to give yourself the same encouragement, I think this episode will really speak to you. As moms, we're used to being the ones who step in, figure things out, and make sure everything is ok. But what happens when you start taking responsibility for things that were never yours to fix? Sometimes something happens with your child, your spouse, or someone else you love, and even though you didn't create the situation, it still affects you. So how do you support the people you love without taking on the responsibility of fixing everything for them? In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm sharing how to stop taking responsibility for everything as a mom and recognize the difference between supporting someone and taking over what belongs to them. I'm talking about giving yourself permission to acknowledge how someone else's choices or problems affect you, recognizing what actually belongs to you, and learning how to care for the people you love without carrying everything yourself. Because momma, you can care deeply about what someone is going through and still recognize that everything isn't yours to fix. If you're a Christian mom who feels responsible for keeping everything and everyone together, struggles with setting boundaries, or finds yourself taking on other people's problems, this episode is for you. Are you feeling overwhelmed by everything you're doing right now, momma? Between taking care of your kiddos, keeping up with everything that needs to be done, and trying to make sure everyone has what they need, it can feel like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. But God never intended for you to carry it all on your own. In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm sharing 3 scriptures for overwhelmed moms who are carrying too much. These are scriptures you can come back to when you're feeling stressed, mentally exhausted, or like there's just too much on your plate. I talk about what God's Word says about giving Him the things that are weighing you down, trusting Him when life feels overwhelming, and remembering where your strength comes from when you feel like you don't have anything left to give. Because sometimes self-care looks like recognizing that you were never meant to do everything, fix everything, or carry everything by yourself. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stressed, emotionally exhausted, or you're a busy Christian mom who needs some encouragement today, I think this episode will really speak to you. And if you're ready to start prioritizing your self-care, I want to invite you to my Self-Care for Busy Moms class. As mom we want our preteens and teens to make good choices and walk in their God-given purpose. It can be hard to know how much to guide them and how much to let them figure out on their own. Sometimes we can put so much pressure on ourselves to help them figure it all out. In this episode, I'm joined by Helen Verroux, education consultant, speaker, author, and coach who helps parents raise purpose-led teens. We talk about what purpose-led parenting looks like and how we can guide our children as they discover their gifts, interests, and who God created them to be. We also talk about what to do when your child doesn't seem motivated or know what they want to do yet, and how to give them space to explore without feeling like you have to figure out their entire future for them. In this episode, you'll learn: 💜 What it means to raise a purpose-led teen by being the example. 💜 How to help your teen discover their God-given gifts and purpose with intentional communication. 💜 How to guide and support your teen without carrying the pressure of figuring out their future. If you've been wondering whether your teen is on the right path or questioning if you're doing enough to prepare them for what's next, this episode will encourage you to keep guiding, praying, and trusting God as your teen grows into who He created them to be. Have you ever known that God was calling you to forgive someone, but the hurt was so deep that you didn’t know how? Forgiveness can be especially hard when the person who hurt you was someone who was supposed to love, protect, or care for you. You may know what the Bible says about forgiveness, but actually walking it out when you’re still carrying pain is a completely different story. In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m joined by Lisa Schafer to talk about Christian forgiveness, healing from painful experiences, and how God’s Word can help us begin letting go of bitterness and moving toward freedom. Lisa shares parts of her own story, including experiencing abuse and feeling like a discarded daughter. I also share some of my own experience with the hurt of having a father who wasn’t there. We talk about why forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending that what happened was okay and why part of healing is being willing to look at how the pain is still affecting you today. In this episode, we talk about: 💜 What biblical forgiveness really looks like when the hurt is deep. 💜 Why starting with what God’s Word says about you is an important part of healing. 💜 How unresolved hurt and bitterness can continue affecting your life. 💜 Practical first steps toward forgiving the unforgivable and finding freedom. If you’ve been struggling to forgive someone who hurt you or wondering how to begin healing from your past, I hope this conversation reminds you that God sees your pain, His Word still speaks truth over who you are, and you don’t have to stay stuck in what happened to you.
